I went to the local train/toy fair at Haydock Racecourse on the 9th November and it was absolutely chocker. One of the traders I regularly do business with, said that trade during the morning was the best he had had for several months. I arrived shortly after it opened at 11.00 am and left around 1.00 pm. There were still people queing to get in.

Mike

P.s bought Lima class 56 provicial colours , boxed in great nick for £28.50, plus lots of spares including new 5 pole bogie for class 47 for £12.00.

The fair at Newton Abbot is incredible! Queues are out of the door all day! Took me about an hour to get in! I have a friend on a stall there and he says business has shot up over the post few months. There are about 60 stalls there including about 10 extremely large ones. There are some great bargains and everything you could need for a model railway is there.

I dont think the econnomic down turn has affected devon yet. Mind the gap in paignton said to me over the summer their business has boomed! They have had to move to a larger premises to accomidate all the new stock.

Theres been no jobs in Castleford since they shut 4 pits in 80s with a loss of around 12,000 jobs.
But one good thing came out of it all, weve got the most second hand shops in yorkshire, but no work.

I went to Spalding on the Saturday and some stalls I looked at, other people were deliberately walking in front of me rather than walk behind, so I walked away, otherwise I might have bought some bits, including some dvd's I saw and wanted. Sadly, two very ignorant individuals kept going back and forth every time I tried to pick one up to see what was on them and I was after two dvd's in particular.

Even some of the layouts I tried to view, I had ignoramus's walk, or even stand in front of me, including one woman trying to get 'That' photo with a telephoto lens on her monstrous camera. In the end, I had to go elsewhere, because it seemed every layout I went to, she followed.
Unless you are authorised to be there, or on a train, keep Off of railway tracks.

There is though a lot of money about, or so it seems, just watched 20 brushes/10 springs for Hornby Ringfield motors go on Ebay for over £26, when they can be bought for £7.00 for 10 off of each, same goes for class 37 bogie, because it was painted, seller wanted £4.50 each, managed to sell all 25 within a week, when they are available from East Kent Models for £2.00 each.
