Triang Hymek running in DCC ?

Postby Teleman on Thu Nov 06, 2008 11:21 pm

What do you think ? I have a few bits left over but not enough to get the last three running as they left the factory because of missing pick ups . So what i was thinking was to make new pick ups and fit them with a DCC decoder for resale on ebay ,
Good idea ?

It Could certainly be done, as I have done it. I am sure i have the wiring diagram somewhere. I got it off someone on the Hornby forum ages ago and it explains how to do it very well. I'm jus thoping I can find it!

Remember though most people running dcc using high quality newer track so will they want something old running round their layout and will it cope over points and things?

Don't worry about a diagram Jake , I know how to wire them up  and yes they do run on fine scale track ( unlike a certain blue dmu that won't ) I have tryed it and it pulls better than the ringfield motor version

Oh right sorry. :(

I dont see why couldn't work? Just wire it up as you say it can do and you have a DCC Hymek. I dont know how it would sell to be honest. On ebay If my memory served me well a DCC Triang Hymek sold for around £30 if that is of any help?

Sounds like a plan and sounds a good idea if you have the skills to do it.

Both my triang hymeks run better than the ringfield version, one runs with the hornby decoder, the other is on a bachmann. I did however upgrade the magnets to the newer neo type, so the current taken is below 250 mA. I am just in the process of painting a replacement body for one of them, the original body was damaged some time ago. I managed to get a couple from Barry Marsh (ex modelspares) recently via ebay.

PS Jake, It was me who sent you the diagram. :) (via tradman188@yahoo.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false" )
