What do people think?

Is it annoying or is it useful?

I find it annoying, so I bypass it.
A happy New Year to one and all

I have to admit by I find it annoying as well. It seems pretty useless to be honest.

Lets see what other people think and if no one approves then i can disable it.

Anyway, what does everyone think of there being no ads! Everyone moans about them all the time and no one has even commented!

Just thinking :? how about having to log in to see the forum and untill then only be able to veiw the portal ? It gives a good idea of what is going on and who is on line . You could put a message on it saying you have to be a member to see the rest , comment etc or only have access to a few topics as a sample ?

It is better without the ads btw , there ' adbot ' was going a bit mad over the last week or so , it keep showing me an ad for breast enlargement  I did not say anything about it incase it was looking at what was posted and we would then get even more of them

i dont think you should have to be a member to view the forum, it means that people are less likeley to accually think about joining, and whats wron about non-members viewing the forum, its fine.

im not a fan of the new portal, it should be just a strait into the forum, but im not too fussed.

I see the forum as a club , so things like the railway arms and reviews should be for members only and not for every body to see

I think that the forum should be open to guests, because if you like what you see you might join. This seems to be how most forums are. When you become a member you can post. Maybe have a seperate members only area that you can only access when you are a member?

then you could hide the member info from non members, and not post e-mail addresses in the forum.
