Has this happened to anyone else?

Postby old tom on Sun Jun 08, 2008 7:38 pm

Has anyone else suddenly had the 'New posts' blue dot indicator disappear? This has happened several times to me, usually on a Sunday evening. I'm happily going thru the new posts and I'll go back to the index (expecting to see several 'new post' blue dots on topics I haven't viewed yet) and find that they have gone grey.
I then have to look at the last posting timestamps to see if I've missed anything.

Is it just me? :?

That happens if you navigate away from the forum. The blue dots only show up to show you posts that have happened since your last visit. It just assumes that when you visited you read all the posts that had happened. I think!

This forum sometimes Logs me out before I read the first post so I have to guess which ones to read.

Not on these occasions Jake. I just view a post and return to the index using the 'click on' Rail Forum Index and they've all gone.
My guess is that Sunday night is housekeeping night and they do a backup and everyone gets put back to square one.

I would imagine that. They probaly prune the system. I will contact the support team and see what they say. Thanks for pointing out the problem. Hopefully if we get rid of all these little niggles we can get a reaaaalllllyyyyy good forum. :D

Seems to be a consistent problem. I have contacted them, but still no reply. I will keep trying.

I have been having trouble with the 'Preview' function (It kept hanging). I guess there's been a problem and a partial re-boot has been done.

It's now back to normal.
