How to Install DCC Decoders into UK 4mm Locos

Postby BromsMods on Sun Apr 20, 2008 9:55 am

If you haven't come across our site yet then take a look at http://www.bromsgrovemodels.co.uk/decod ... ion4mm.htm

This page provides links to instructions for installing decoders in a wide range of UK 4mm locos. Some are our own and some are links to instructions on other sites.

If anyone knows of similar instructions for locos not included here then please email me.

Hi Jackie

No, haven't come across anything that is well documented for Triang conversions. Trouble with some of them is the live chassis!

I have installed decoders into triang class 31/37/blue pullman/jinty/battle of britain/pricess class with no problems, using ZTC decoders, unfortunately whilst I can provide pictures of finshed article, I did not take photographs of how I did it, mainly because it was so simple. I use the ZTC decoder because it allowed tuning of the motor. I have now upgraded the magnets to the newer neo type and in ever case theer has been an improvement in control and reduction in current taken, by up to 60% in some case but by an average of 50%.

The only loco that I have had an issue with is the old airfix 14xx , which although doable took me about 2 hours to sort out.
